About us

Juvenile Uplifting Mentoring Program (J.U.M.P.) began as a vision rooted in lived experience, education, and resilience.

Our Story

In September 2017, Intisar Martin launched Juvenile Uplifting Mentor Program, LLC as a pilot initiative in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. At the time, she was the sole mentor, working one-on-one with children ages 9–14. Equipped with her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University, Intisar used the skills she had gained to teach youth how to change behaviors through consistent communication, mentorship, and skills training.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, the program was forced to pause due to quarantine. But this pause became preparation for something bigger.

Education & Resilience

During the program’s downtime, Intisar continued to invest in her education. She earned her Master’s in Psychology in 2022, briefly pursued a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology, and transitioned into her Master of Social Work program at Capella University in 2023. Today, she maintains a 4.0 GPA and is in her final practicum stage.

Her academic success reflects her resilience, but the true foundation of J.U.M.P. is her lived experience. As a survivor of childhood sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, Intisar knows what it feels like to be unheard and unsafe. She also knows the struggles of battling mental health challenges, substance use disorder, and navigating the justice system without proper support.

Through counseling, recovery, and education, she rebuilt her life. Her journey taught her what she lacked as a child — a trusted mentor — and inspired her to create that safe space for today’s youth.

Becoming a Nonprofit

In March 2024, Intisar relaunched J.U.M.P. as a nonprofit organization, officially incorporating in April 2024 as a 501(c)(3). In just one year, J.U.M.P. has expanded into a dynamic community force with measurable impact.

  • 58 community members trained in CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, epinephrine, and Narcan response.
  • 11 trauma-informed mentors now working with youth across Lycoming County.
2 caseworkers and 1 licensed counselor providing family support and youth counseling.
  • Quarterly expungement clinics, already helping 15 individuals clear records and reclaim opportunities.
  • Young Entrepreneurs Workshops, empowering youth as young as 11 with financial literacy and business-building skills.

Today, J.U.M.P. is led by a committed seven-member executive board, with Intisar serving as Executive Director and Program Director, guiding the organization’s growth and innovation.

Why We Exist

J.U.M.P. exists because too many young people experience the same struggles Intisar once did — trauma, neglect, mental health challenges, and justice system involvement — without the mentors and resources to guide them toward healing and success.

We believe:

  • Trauma does not define a child’s future.
  • With mentorship, education, and family support, cycles of harm can be broken.
  • Every young person deserves to feel safe, heard, and capable of achieving greatness.

Moving Forward

J.U.M.P. is more than a program — it is a movement for change. Rooted in resilience, strengthened by academic expertise, and powered by a growing team of mentors and partners, we are building a future where youth and families thrive.

Our story began with one woman’s determination, and now — with the support of donors, funders, and community partners — it continues to grow into a legacy of transformation.
